Legal & General has submitted the planning application to transform the derelict former diesel depot into a vibrant urban quarter.
This is the culmination of hundreds of conversations with local communities, hours of technical work, and ongoing collaboration between many organisations to ensure the proposal is something Bristol can be proud of.
We look forward to continuing to work with our long-term partners to develop a new landmark on this prominent city centre site.
Bristol City Council and Legal & General agreed a vision to unlock the delivery of a vibrant new district. Legal & General has now submitted a planning application for:
Up to 520 new homes and 40% catering to social and affordable rents
Two new fit for the future office buildings
Up to 2000 jobs
A new hotel and conference centre
An investment of over £350 million in the city
A sustainable district connected to the city’s heat network
Regenerating a derelict brownfield site
A new public square defined by planting and bordered by new shops, cafes and flexible spaces
Boosting the local economy in Bristol
Connecting communities by establishing new routes between the Bath Road, Bristol Temple Meads railway station and St Philips Marsh
Legal & General has engaged hundreds of people on plans for Temple Island. The comprehensive and transparent three stage engagement programme which: firstly, gathered ideas and feedback on the site and the surrounding area, then followed on the conceptual design, and finally looked at the detailed proposals for the site.
This is a project for Bristol and we’ll continue working with local communities and other stakeholders throughout the planning process, construction, and once the development is built.
